NH ice report 1/8/16

posted by Admin User at 2016-01-08 09:40:00

The 2016 ice season has begun! We're heading out this morning with our Nordic Skates, ice testing poles and ice safety gear to explore Kezar Lake in North Sutton, NH and Little Lake Sunapee in New London, NH - both located just off Interstate 89. Watch for a report later today.

In the NH-VT border region, reports of skateable ice are coming in from multiple locations. If you go, bring Nordic Skating poles for ice testing, as well as ice claws and a Nordic Lifeline (throw rope) - and hook up with an experienced guide on one of the 3 listserves hosted by Yahoo Groups: VTNordicSkating, NHNordicSkating and MassNordicSkating. Out west, our friends in Montana also have their own listserve; it's called MTIceBuds.

The Lake Morey Skate-athon is scheduled for next Sunday, the 17th at the Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, VT. The lake is not skateable now, but we're hoping it will be ready in time. Stay tuned for updates, and check out the webcam at LakeMoreyResort.com !

Happy skating,
Jamie
